Nightingale : David the Baker Defends His Title
TUESDAY ONLY! BIGTIME COMEBACK!
Dearly Beloved Readers,
A very fine evening to you! I hope you are well. Allow me to notify you of an announcement or two.
First, I’m doing some test baking tomorrow and, barring catastrophe, will have a pretty good handful of loaves. Mostly light country-style loaves, but I’ve got a dozen very whole and dark seeded, malty rye breads too. Since I don’t really want to open up the whole shop and send everyone mixed messages about our open hours, I thought I’d camp out in front of the shop with my loaves for a few hours in the morning and offer them for sale. Who knows, maybe I’ll even have experimental scones? And a nice morning shot of fresh-squeezed citrus juice?
Now that I’ve got such an indefatigable, extremely talented, and astonishingly charming crew at the shop, I don’t get as many chances as I’d like to come in early and test my own mettle against the oven, and I’m a little thirsty for it. Depending on how things go I may make more regular Tuesday morning camp-out appearances, I’ll let you know by email. NB: I’ve got about 80 loaves to sell tomorrow—if they go fast I’ll send an email letting you know I’m packing up. Loaves at Limited Edition price of $10. Cash only.
In sum:
David Camps Out In Front of His Own Bakery
Tuesday, February 10
Country Loaves and A Few Dark Rye Loaves
(Possibly Scones and Fresh-Squeezed Juice)
Sunrise to 10am or until sold out.
Cash only. Like the old days.
Loaves at $10, other stuff tbd.
Secondly, I thought I’d alert you to our upcoming Spring recess. It’s a ways off, don’t worry. But I know some of you are planners.
We’ll be closed for Spring Recess the week of March 22. That’s March 22 through 28. Reopening on Wednesday, April 1.
Guess that’s all for now. Of course my little experimental bake tomorrow does not affect our usual open hours, where we will have our full standard menu and cast of characters ready to assist you.
Thank you for your support all these years. May there be many more!
yours truly,
david
