Dear readers,
Good day to you all! I hope you are well and that our week off caused you no great suffering. We sure benefit from these quarterly recesses and often come back with a renewed energy and appreciation for the work. We are, of course, open again this week as usual, Wednesday through Saturday, 8am to 2pm, with hoagie sandwiches out the side window, 10:30am to 2pm.
“As usual” in all respects, save one! It is my unenviable task to make known to you that due to the current size of our team (rather significantly lessened from its size of just a couple months ago) and also the seemingly indefatigable managerial complexity of the endeavor, I am putting our pizza operation on hold for a while, effective now.
I’m sorry, I know the pizzas are well loved, and many of you have become unswervingly loyal pizza patrons, patiently enduring our archaic phone system, our lack of respectable rain or sun covering, scant (to put it mildly) seating options—all for the sake of some very fine pizzas, the like of which perhaps the entire cosmos has not known from the beginning and even unto the end of this age. For your patronage, your thumbs-up through the window, for your kind words, your generous tips, even—yes, even!—for your occasional criticisms, which were not lightly dismissed, I thank you sincerely.
As our team settles into its routines and refocuses on developing and honing our essential lineup—bread, pastry, hoagies—I will not forget the pizza, and I expect its return ere too long, even if in some modified form.
All for now. I will get back to you in a week or two once decisions for our updated summer menu (seasonal breads, scone, etc.) are finalized.
yours truly,
david the baker
