Nightingale : Unexpected Turn of Events for Tomorrow's Offerings
TL;DR : Not Your Usual Breads This Wednesday
Dear readers,
A lovely afternoon and evening to you all. I hope you are well. Two brief notes for you.
Due to an unusual, unforeseen, unlikely, and altogether sincere case of good intentions gone awry, we had to scrap all our usual dough for tomorrow’s bake. Rather than mourn the day in sorrowful black lamentation, we decided to take it as an opportunity to employ our creative artisan forces and to raise it from the depths of Tragedy to the height of Comedy. (You know, in the classical sense.) Instead of the usual loaves: blonde, red, seeded, rye, and olive, all of which—alas!—had to be freighted to the geographical center of North America to be destroyed in its infernal fires; we are proclaiming a new National Roll-With-It Day, and celebrating its first commemoration by making a host of yeasted rolls and loaves which neither you (nor us) have likely encountered before at Nightingale.
Menu for tomorrow includes: seeded rolls, olive ciabatta, jalapeno-cheddar tin loaves, cherry chocolate rolls, straight tin loaves and ciabatta loaves, olive fougasse, cinnamon-walnut-raisin rolls, and yes, baguette as usual. Hoagies were unharmed and will go on as planned.
I do apologize for this inconvenience and any shattered expectations that may result from the temporary menu change. Please be assured that operations will continue as usual the rest of the week.
While I’ve got your eye, I just wanted to call attention to what you may already have noticed on Saturday mornings. We’ve had live chamber music played by members of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. It’s been so great that I have had trouble concentrating on my shop duties. First the string quartet at our anniversary party, then last week a woodwind trio. My intention is to get something of a summer music series together and for the music to continue each Saturday, 9-11am. Please feel free to simply enjoy the music while in line, or out of it, and to bring some cash if you’d like to put some in the pot for them.
Alright, thanks for your time. Take care. See you soon. And don’t forget to roll with it.
sincerely,
david
