Nightingale : Yuletide Proclamations
Dearly Beloved Readers,
I come again with glad tidings, now in anticipation of the Second Grand Holiday of the Holiday Season™. That’s right, the Christmas order is now live on our website. But how do you make your way there? How, indeed?
Following a grueling series of binge-worthy Thanksgiving pie episodes, I have elected this time to take my former advice to myself and to make it a little simpler. Since the key lime pie we’ve made for the past years has been well-received, isn’t so much of a strategic gamble to pull off, is my favorite pie of all time, and was the favorite pie of my grandfather before me, I’m preparing to make just that one. Lots of them, but just that. By my troth, this very night have I prepared ninety pounds of graham crackers for the making of the crusts, and I fear that even that great mountain shall not prevail against the onslaught of orders now mustering appetites against me.
You’ll also find on the menu a nice pastry box, our traditional and praiseworthy special Christmas loaves (cranberry sage, and date cardamom walnut), plenty of rolls to attend your holiday table, and the familiar host of loaves known to you if you know us. Do avail yourself to the order form if you know you’d like something, some things will likely sell out!
Ah, but will we hand out warm rolls and hot cocoa if you have to stand in line on the pickup day? And will there be fires to cheer your weary heart? And will there be mistletoe? Yes my good and faithful reader, yes. At least two of those. I’m not sure where you find mistletoe.
We’ll be open Tuesday and Wednesday the week of Christmas and closed the remainder of the week. Tuesday will be a normal day (8am - 2pm) with the usual breads and pastries, including baguette. Wednesday (8am - 4pm) will be mostly for picking up your pre-order, but we’ll plan to have extras of everything we can. If you want more of something than you ordered, I do recommend coming earlier: things do sell out despite our best efforts to the contrary.

After that last Wednesday, our winter recess begins and we’ll reopen the week of January 18, with Wednesday, Jan. 21 being the first day back, and regular hours the rest of that week and beyond.
I wish you all the very best as this year draws to a close.
yours truly,
david
